A stigmatized position on social media and in the local press that, however, councilor Lara Magoni (exponent of the Brothers of Italy) denied, explaining that she simply suggested to her colleague Felice Casucci, councilor of the Campania Region, that the manger was sent to Bergamo and not to Milan because “Bergamo, which is my city, has suffered a lot from the coronavirus.” In fact, the nativity scene was sent to Bergamo, where it was received by the mayor, Giorgio Gori, at Palazzo Frizzoni, the seat of the municipality.

“On behalf of the municipal administration of Bergamo – said Gori – I would like to thank President Vincenzo De Luca, Councilor Felice Casucci and the entire Campania regional council for the donation to the city of Bergamo. The very significant gesture offers the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of a handicraft work rich in history that enhances the Neapolitan cultural heritage and ancient folk traditions. A gesture that unites the territories and expresses a message of hope at a time of great collective difficulty.

In addition to the Lombard see, eight other Neapolitan nativity scenes were sent to Palazzo Rospigliosi in the municipality of Zagarolo for the Lazio region, to Palazzo Guadagni Strozzi in Florence for Tuscany, to the Regional Sanctuary of San Francesco di Paola for the Calabria region, to the Sigismondo Castromediamo Museum in Lecce for the Apulia region, to the Church of the Martyrs of Turin for Piedmont, to the Emilia Romagna Region headquarters, to the Noble Hall of the Palazzo Sceriman in Venice for the Veneto Region, and finally to the headquarters of the Regional Council of Sicily.
