There are 1,067 new cases of coronavirus in Campania today, compared to 18,426 swabs tested. Yesterday there were 791 new cases of the 10,185 swabs tested in the last 24 hours – a significant increase, albeit with more swabs tested. Today’s symptoms are 100 versus 967 asymptomatic. This was announced by the Crisis Unit of the Civil Protection of the Campania Region, in the usual daily bulletin on the Covid pandemic. With 2,360 new cured and 19 more deaths, the total figures rise to 100,527 recovered and 2,643 deaths, respectively, since the beginning of the pandemic. Finally, 107 people are hospitalized in intensive care in Campania, with another 1,513 patients in the wards of the ordinary hospital.

The positivity rate in Campania thus goes from 7.76% yesterday to 5.79% today. Usually, Since the beginning of the pandemic, the ratio between positives and smears is 9.40% (yesterday it was 9.44%), compared to the total of 183,117 infections out of a total of 1,946,290 swabs tested from February to today. Figures that these days tend to be stable, but no longer seem to decline at the same rate as before: there is now great concern about the upcoming Christmas holidays, when that is, when all government and regional bans are removed, opportunities to socialize. They will increase and, therefore, the risk of possible family infections. Tomorrow, Christmas Eve, all of Italy will in fact enter the red zone to try to “stop” the risk. On December 27, however, V-Day will be celebrated, the European vaccination day: in Campania there will be 27 points where 2,700 people will be subjected to the vaccine throughout the day. The first will be Giuseppe Bianco, head of nursing at the Covid residence of the Hospital del Mar in Naples.
