Never so many hospitalizations in Romagna for Covid-19, despite the decrease in infections in recent weeks. The control of the virus in the hospitals of Romagna is not loosening. Compared to the previous week, in fact, hospitalizations have increased again, thus leaving the Ausl Romagna red alert, regarding the postponement of non-urgent services. In the three provinces, 574 people were hospitalized for Covid-19, 30 more than the previous week. There are 40 admissions to ICU.
In order to provide an update regarding the evolution of the epidemiological picture of covid 19 infection in the Romagna area, during a period of time more significant than the situation of a single day, the Ausl processed the data regarding the week from December 14 to 20 (specifying that they are the cases of residents diagnosed in the Romagna area). In fact, 2,893 positives out of a total of 35,582 swabs were verified in the reference week, with an incidence, therefore, of 8.1%, substantially in line with the figure for the previous week. The situation is mixed in Romagna: it ranges from a positive rate in total buffers of 9-9.3% in Rimini and Ravenna to 6.2% in Forlì, passing through 7.5% in Cesena. After 3 weeks of decline, the positivity also begins to increase again (2893 vs. 2711 the week before). The incidence remains below the national average. The average percentage of asymptomatic people in Romagna is around 49 percent, with Rimini and Ravenna above 50 percent. The yield for 48-hour swab reporting times is 78 percent.
“The indicators remain stationary – says the Ausl Romagna medical director Mattia Altini – and we must not forget that these indicators, for the reality of Romagna, are better than those of other territories. This reality, however, should not comfort us. “Or divert our commitment from the constant action that we are implementing, and from prevention. It is essential, for example, that hospitalizations decrease, as already mentioned, also in the face of seasonal flu.” The fundamental thing is to comply with the anticipated precautionary measures, starting with distancing, the use of masks and hand hygiene. It is important for us and to help the operators of the health system who have been working tirelessly for more than ten months ”.
