Florence, December 22, 2020 – Mourning in the fashion world: it has disappeared Giorgio Gucci, grandson of Guccio Gucci, founder of the famous Florentine brand in 1921. The announcement was made by the family with a note sent to the press. The eldest son of Aldo and Olwen Gucci, he was part of the third generation of the family.. “He was one of the proponents of the memorable expansion of the Florentine fashion house, loved by all as an upright man with a creative spirit, supporter of a family that has carried the flag of Italian fashion and style abroad,” recalls the note. He started working in Rome in the famous shop in via Condotti, founded by his father, who introduced him to family business life. Among his various passions, still remembered by his relatives, is the love for horses, for which he felt empathy and affection, raised and cared for them in Monte Argentario (Grosseto), where he lived during the summer months.
His love for nature was accompanied by a love for art, which engaged him in the search and promotion of artists of all kinds, with a special predisposition for painting. “As a good art collector, he had a sensitivity to the ephemeral which he brought into the artistic taste of Gucci collections during his years at the helm of the company. He is remembered as a man of diverse passions, a tireless traveler and a father of a whole family ”, concludes the same note.
