There are 674 (of which 313, 46.4%, asymptomatic) new cases of people who tested positive for Covid-19 in Piedmont, which is equivalent to 4.4% of the 15,483 swabs performed (of which 8,589 antigen tests ). This was announced by the Crisis Unit of the Region in today’s update bulletin, Tuesday, December 22.
Of the 674 new cases (+50 in the Novara area and +36 in the Vco), 264 were registered after screening, 295 are case contacts, 115 with ongoing investigation; in the area: 88 in Rsa / Structures of social assistance, 37 in the school environment, 549 in the general population.

The total number of positive cases in the region thus becomes 193 765, divided as follows by provinces: 17210 in Alessandria, 9557 in Asti, 6687 in Biella, 26797 Cuneo, 15077 in Novara, 101983 in Turin, 7313 in Vercelli, 6,493 in the Vco, as well as 1,039 residents outside the region but in charge of Piedmont health structures. The remaining 1605 are under development and territorial allocation. The diagnostic swabs processed so far are 1 million and 892892 (+15483 compared to yesterday), of which 898350 were negative.
Hospitalizations are returning
According to today’s bulletin, there are 228 patients admitted to intensive care (-9 compared to yesterday), while non-intensive patients are 3,331 (-78 compared to yesterday). There are 36,605 people in home isolation (-836 compared to yesterday).
50 new deaths
There are 50 deaths of people positive to the Covid-19 test reported by the Crisis Unit of the Piedmont Region, of which 5 occurred today, Tuesday, December 22. The total now stands at 7,621 deaths that tested positive for the virus, divided as follows: 1,166 in Alessandria, 467 in Asti, 325 in Biella, 845 Cuneo, 633 in Novara, 3,511 in Turin, 362 in Vercelli, 242 in Vco , in addition to 70 residents outside the region but died in Piedmont.
More than 1500 new cures
The patients recovered are a total of 145,980 (+1540 compared to yesterday) divided as follows by provinces: 12,502 in Alessandria, 7,406 in Asti, 4450 in Biella, 19649 in Cuneo, 12192 in Novara, 77957 in Turin, 5199 in Vercelli, 5,260 in the Vco, as well as 668 extraregions and 697 defined.
The situation in the Novara area
Hospitalizations are also returning to Novara. According to today’s bulletin, Tuesday, December 22, from the hospital-university company, in fact, 109 patients (-7 compared to yesterday) are admitted to the Maggiore hospital: 8 in intensive care, 20 in sub-intensive care, 15 at the headquarters of Galliate, 12 in Infectious Diseases, 54 in the Covid rooms of Novara. In the last hours, however, there have been another 4 deaths: 3 men of 78, 74 and 57 years old and a 67-year-old woman. Finally, 6 patients have been transferred to other structures.
