Vatican City – Two cardinals of the curia affected by the COVID-19. The virus has infected two cardinals who are often in contact with French Pope. The first is Konrad Krajewski, the alms giver who is usually the protagonist of humanitarian missions in the poorest neighborhoods of Rome on behalf of the pontiff. After having tested positive in the throat swab performed by the Department of Hygiene and Health and, with some symptoms of initial pneumonia, he was brought under control at Gemelli. The Vatican is conducting the necessary checks among those who have contacted him in recent days.
It is not known if the cardinal has been in contact with the Pope in recent days. Certainly, last Friday he had been seen speaking intensely with Bergoglio before Cardinal Cantalamessa’s Christmas preaching. The Pope had two audiences this morning, the first with the curia and the second with the employees of the Interior, with whom he also exchanged handshakes and close greetings. The second cardinal who tested positive for coronavirus is the president of the Interior, Giuseppe Bertello, over seventy years old and close to retirement.
