He had been in town for a couple of hours and, according to investigations, he would be leaving that same night. The whirlwind visit before Christmas with her sister, who lives in Milan, is a lazy excuse: the woman was about to return south before travel restrictions. What was Ansaldi going to do in those few hours? On Saturday the doctor’s wife and sister were heard in Naples: with the first it seems that relations had deteriorated for some time, and the version they said at home to go to Milan is “a friend’s date.” Another central element in the investigation coordinated by prosecutor Adriano Scudieri is the behavior of the murderers: after the murder they changed their clothes to confuse the records and this suggests a predetermined plan. The investigation also revealed that there would be no link between the murder in Via Macchi and another attack that took place in the same area. Indeed, shortly after Ansaldi’s murder, in via Boscovich, a 72-year-old man returning home was blocked, thrown to the ground and his mobile phone and watch were stripped. Initially there was a strong suspicion that there could be a connection, but it would be two different episodes and not the action of serial robbers. In Naples and Benevento, the death of the doctor caused great emotion. Many gathered in front of the building in Piazza Cavour that houses the office where he received patients, someone wrote a letter to remind him. Many tributes remain on social networks. Singer Nancy Coppola describes him as “a great man and professional: thanks to him I had my daughter.” On the web, many have mentioned professional preparation, but especially the human side. Ansaldi’s murder triggered the security alarm in Milan. Mayor Giuseppe Sala will ask Prefect Renato Saccone to meet “to assess the situation and make the necessary decisions to strengthen the police presence.”
