The “English variant” of the coronavirus has landed in Italy a few days ago, But the news was released last night, after the blocking of flights from the United Kingdom and the arrival of the last planes from British cities: hundreds of passengers, almost all Italians, one, a doctor, suspected of being positive and now undergoing tests in Spallanzani.

Based on initial information, the woman has a high viral load.
However, confidentiality on the matter is maximum, also because security measures were taken immediately with respect to family members and close contacts of the two, also subject to a swab.. Passengers on their flight back to Italy were also contacted, certainly those who sat in the front two rows and the back two. At the moment, the result of the swabs has not been communicated, but the alert about the returns of Great Britain in the last two weeks has still started throughout Italy.
There is apprehension, because it seems difficult to trace the positive aspects of the “English variant” and its contacts. Suffice it to say that only in Sicily “there are 1,115 citizens who have entered Sicilian territory from the United Kingdom since December 14, of these 636 have already carried out molecular swabs (negative results) before reaching the island”, explains Regional Councilor for Cheers Ruggero Razza. Therefore, it is assumed that in the same time period tens of thousands of people have come to all of Italy from Great Britain., but the prevention departments of the local health units are already looking, as foreseen by the urgent ordinance of the Ministry of Health, the highest number of positive potentials, based at least on the flight passenger lists. A race against time that seems desperate.
