Coronavirus, new cases fall in Sicily in 24 hours (+7 in the province) but hospitalizations increase

The number of new coronavirus cases identified in Sicily in the last 24 hours decreases, but the number of hospitalized patients is growing. According to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health, the new positives are 792 (yesterday 878) of the 7,109 swabs processed. There are 1,076 hospitalized patients with symptoms (5 more than yesterday ed), while in Intensive Care there are 178 occupied beds (yesterday 174 ed) with 13 new entries. In total there are 1,254 people in the hospital (yesterday there were 1,245 ed). The number of citizens in home isolation decreases, from 32,843 yesterday to 32,629. Unfortunately, there are 24 other victims and the total is 2,155 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. The new discharged / healed are 728, for a total of 48,491.

This is the subdivision of the new cases by province: Catania 209; Palermo 271; Messina 89; Ragusa 47; Trapani 3, Siracusa 68; Agrigento 7; Caltanissett 85 and Enna 13.

The trips

In the field of travel, Italy has also decided to stop (until 6 January ed) to air connections with the United Kingdom due to the new variant of the Coronavirus identified in the country. Anyone who is already in Italy, coming from that territory, must undergo a molecular antigenic swab by contacting prevention departments. The Covid variant, recently discovered in London, is worrying and will have to be investigated by our scientists. In the meantime, we are choosing the path of utmost caution. ”
