Covid, Britain warns WHO:

Christmas in emergency shutdown by London. The British capital, according to media UK, is about to be included in a new level of anti-Covid alert, called “Level 4”, which provides for “Stay home” during the holidays. The announcement is expected to be made at Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s press conference scheduled for 5pm (Italian time). The new restrictions for the capital and the south of England would effectively eliminate the relaxation promised in recent days by the Tory government.

It will not be possible to find other families than yours: that is, there will be no guests at home for Christmas. As for the rest of England, it is believed that a maximum meeting limit between two households will be announced, and not three as planned so far. The new squeeze is due to the resumption of infections and a new variant of the coronavirus that circulates in the southeast of the country.

Johnson: Take Action Against New Virus Variant

‘The virus appears to be circulating faster due to a new variant, there is no evidence of an increase in lethality, but it seems to be spreading faster. “The new variant of Covid is more contagious”

The British authorities have informed the WHO (World Health Organization) that the new variant of the coronavirus found in the southeast of England may circulate faster. Chris Whitty, who is the head of the health authority in England, however, has specified that it is not yet clear whether this new variant is more lethal. The BBC reports.

The heads of the British health authorities indicate that, according to some studies, the new variant of the coronavirus that appeared in the country was probably present in London or Kent as early as mid-September. In mid-November, around 28% of cases in London were due to the new variant, and on December 9 the percentage was much higher. Currently in London 60% of cases derive from the new variant.
