From December 24 to January 6, Italy for the holidays locked in hiccup in ten ‘red’ days, only holidays and days before holidays, and four ‘orange’ days.

Days in red zone: December 24, 25, 26, 27, 31, 2020 and January 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2021

Movements You go out only for shopping, mass, physical activity

The message is clear: you have to stay home. And therefore it is forbidden to move unless there are reasons for work, health, need and these include assistance to a non-self-sufficient person for which only a person with minor children can move.

You are always allowed to travel to return to your own residence, domicile or home where you usually meet the couple. But it doesn’t have to be the second home that can be reached on Sunday. You can go out to shops or mass or do physical activity, always with self-certification.

Meetings. Two who do not live at the table, plus the children

Two more seats at the table, in addition to those for children up to 14 years and the disabled. It is the exemption granted to the movement block that will allow family members, boyfriends but also friends to meet on holidays and the eve of holidays and therefore be able to celebrate together both at Christmas and New Years, always respecting the curfew before 10 p.m.

Therefore, a family can invite two people into their home who can take the children and non-self-sufficient people entrusted to them. Encounters that can take place, once a day, with movements within the region.

Bars and restaurants. Always closed, it is allowed to carry

Bars and restaurants close from Christmas Eve to reopen on January 7, when the holidays end. So nothing to eat outside on Christmas day or the first of the year or for Befana as planned in the old Dpcm, no breakfasts, snacks, or coffee, not even sitting at the table until 6 in the afternoon.
Those who wish can remain open but only for home delivery or take-out before 10pm. Bars, patisseries and ice cream parlors can also continue to operate but only if they offer these services.

Autogrills along motorways and bars at stations and airports remain open.

Shops Open supermarkets, pharmacies, hairdressers

Supermarkets and grocery stores are obviously always open except on Christmas Day and the first of the year. The stores, on the other hand, are always closed, but in the list of the 35 commercial activities that remain open during the days of the red zone, there are also hairdressers and barbers, as was also foreseen in the Dpcm that established the new red zones. And then of course pharmacies, parapharmacies, bookstores, newsagents, florists, toy and sportswear stores, tobacconists and hardware stores, laundries and pet shops.

Shopping centers and markets naturally closed except for the sale of food.

The days in the orange zone: December 28, 29, 30, 2020 and January 4, 2021

Movements Freedom of movement in your own municipality

You can move freely but only within your own municipality or at most reach the closest one to buy essential items if they are not available. The only exemption granted by the government for those who live in centers with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants: in this case, they can move within 30 kilometers but not to reach provincial capitals. If you are forced to move in any case for reasons of work, necessity or health or to return to your residence, domicile or home, you can always do so with self-certification. Be careful with regional ordinances.

Meetings. No limits, but it is recommended to avoid them.

There is no limit to meetings other than common sense. The government’s recommendation is to always avoid receiving people who do not live in your home and always keep the mask on if you decide to do so. Especially in the presence of elderly or frail people.
However, the Dpcm does not foresee any restriction on meetings or any justification for those leaving home. Therefore, on orange days, you can visit family or friends with no limit to the number of people who can travel. Parties are obviously forbidden.

Bars and restaurants. They remain off limits, yes to home service.

Nothing changes for public places: red or orange, bars, ice cream parlors, patisseries, pizzerias, restaurants, which have now reopened almost in all regions.
(from tomorrow also in Tuscany, Campania, Val d’Aosta, Bolzano province as soon as they turn yellow again), they will have to lower the blinds again. Those who estimate it will be able to continue working only with their home or to take out at 10 at night, however, not allowing customers to stop and consume food and drinks near the premises. There are many restaurants that will offer home delivery of special menus for Christmas and New Year’s lunches.

Shops Everything in operation with extended hours

For shops, intermittent openings, calendar in hand. On orange days, commercial establishments of any type may be opened, with continuous and extended hours until 9:00 p.m. to avoid that, especially in the first days of next week, there are gatherings for the last purchases of Christmas gifts before closing early evening. on Wednesday 23.

Reopening during the first three days of New Years week. And whoever deems it convenient may reopen for just one day, even on Monday 4 before the new lockout on the eve and on the day of Epiphany.
