The list of the 26 Greats of the Sanremo 2021 Festival (from March 2 to 6, 2021) announced by the artistic director and host Amadeus, during the Final “Sanremo Giovani” of the Teatro del Casinò, is surprising but also current, contemporary and – on paper – of excellent level for the offered proposal. The Amadeus options appear to be targeted and point directly to the “product” rather than the name. It is no coincidence that some Bigs are unknown to most, but they either have significant broadcast numbers or are highly regarded by critics. The options, therefore, seem displacing but intriguing.
There is a great representation of the indie world and modern composition as Colapesce-Di Martino (“Very light music”), Eat_Things (“Flames in the eyes”), Flash of lightning (“Santa Marinella”),Gio evan (“Arnica”) and The representative of the list (“Amare”). It reappears, after last year’s hype, Bugo (“Instead yes”) without morgan who did not even participate in the evening because of his statements against Amadeus and the organization for the exclusion of his song. The women of “pop” are well represented with Annalisa (“Ten”), Arisa (“You could have done more”), Naomi (“Glicine”), Malika Ayane (“You like yourself”), the winner of “Friends of Maria De Filippi” Gaia (“Corazón de Amaro”) but also the old glory of the Festival as Orietta Berti (“When you fell in love”). The latter was connected from her home still convalescing and recovering, after contracting the coronavirus. Rap is well represented by the talented Ms (“Voice”), Random (“I’ll come back to you”), Fasma (“Tell me Willie peyote (“Mai dire mai – The Madness”).
Welcome back to Ariston those of Ermal Meta (“A million things to tell you”), Max Gazzè with the Trifluoperazine Monstery Band (“The pharmacist”), Rhythm (“The genesis of your color”), Ghemon (“Perfect moment”), The welfare state (“Combat Pop”) e Francesco Renga (“When I find you”). Among the beginnings of these 26 Big are also the Mane (“Shut up and fine”) e Aiello (“Now”). Surprisingly, the presence of the Extraliscius (band composed by Mariani, Moreno “il Biondo” Conficconi and Mauro Ferrara, the voice of “Romagna mia” in the world) feat Davide toffolo Gods Three cheerful dead children (“White black light”). Last but not the last Fedez and Francesca Michielin in duet with “Call me by my name”. It is not the first time that the duo sing together again after the successes of “Black Swan” in 2013 and “Magnifico” in 2014. They are, on paper, the announced winners but with San Remo you know, anything can happen and the opposite of everything.
Finally, here are the young people who will be part of the New Proposals of the Sanremo 2021 Festival: Gaudiano (“Gunpowder”), Folcast (“Discover”), Greta zuccoli (“Everything knows about you”), Davide shorty (“Regina”), WrongOnYou (“Flying lessons”) and Avincola (“Goal!”). Among the ten finalists, the six selected are the result of the votes of the television jury formed by Luca Barbarossa, Beatrice Venezi and Piero Pelù, with Televoting and the Musical Commission trial, led by Amadeus. To these are added the 2 artists selected by the Musical Commission among the winners of the San Remo Area contest, which complete the group of 8 New Proposals: Elena Faggi with “What do I know” and the dellai twins with “I am Luca”.
