The only certainty that the government had about the school begins to creak: it could review the return to classes on January 7 of 75% of high school students, foreseen by the last Dpcm. Both because the preventive machine is struggling to take off (where are the additional transports and quick swabs that will be made available to schools?), And because a significant number of new people infected with Covid and, above all, deaths are they keep counting every day (846 in the last twenty-four hours). As if this were not enough, from the prefectures there do not seem to be any sudden signals about what to do to avoid gatherings.
The uncertainty is already evident in the words of Agostino Miozzo, coordinator of the Scientific Technical Committee, released after the meeting held by videoconference on December 15 with all the CTS experts.
Miozzo: Can we have the children at home for the next six months?
Miozzo – interviewed in ‘Carta bianca’ by Rai Tre about the indications to face this phase of the pandemic with a view to the Christmas holidays – admitted that “we are going through a particularly delicate period”: a reasoning that also refers to “the reopening of schools, ”which“ mobilizes 10 million people. ”A significant number, which could be decisive for a possible new outbreak of infections.
It’s also true, Miozzo noted, that “we can’t imagine having the kids at home for the next six months.”
The CTS coordinator himself has made it clear that the tightening of the rules seems inevitable, especially after “what we saw last weekend”, with gatherings in front of the stores: “these are situations for which we will pay.”
More gradual return?
The issue, along with others on the difficult moment linked to the double thread of the pandemic, should be analyzed on Wednesday, December 16, during a meeting of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte with the majority heads of delegation: the primary objective will be precisely to evaluate the It must also be done in light of the opinion and warnings provided by the CTS.
The experts’ concerns about the return to school on January 7 were evidently recognized by government parties: epidemiological data seems to suggest a more gradual return of high school students than imagined.
The comparison seems mandatory, with Leu (led by Health Minister Roberto Speranza) and Pd continuing to carry a decidedly more wait-and-see policy in Covid.
Other “adjustments” are likely to be made as well.
As for the other anti-Covid measures, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte would prepare to propose to ministers some “tweaks” to the Christmas tightening, to exacerbate it further.
Also in this case, the ministers of Pd and Leu continue to press for closures from the “red zone” on the occasion of the holidays.
While the representatives of Movimento 5 Stelle and Italia Viva would be more oriented to confirm the current provisions, if at all with some slight restrictions.
