According to the professor, the reaction of the population to the relaxation of the rules is an unknown factor, a risk that the country cannot afford to take at the moment. “The impression is that, as soon as there is the slightest hint of relaxation of the measures, people take the arm and not just the finger.” “We are heading for a vigorous recovery from the second wave that is going to undo all the sacrifices made,” Galli continued.
According to the infectious diseases specialist, “opening and closing it” could end up damaging the economic system “much more than a more intense treatment but with a certain duration”. The reference is to the moment, inevitably delayed in this way, of the fight against the virus. “So we will take it with us who knows how long,” he explained, “at least until the herd immunity, which, if all goes well, will arrive in a year.
