The Court of Cassation confirmed the sentence of fifteen years in prison for Jorge Edson Tavares, accused of attacking with acid and chasing his ex-girlfriend, Gessica Notaro, in 2017. The events took place on January 11, 2017, when Gessica Notaro, former miss model and debut singer, was attacked with acid by her ex-boyfriend near her mother’s house in Rimini. The girl was returning home from a dinner with her new partner, in via Bidente, on the outskirts of Rimini, when, in the dark, around 10:30 p.m., she saw her ex, Eddy Tavares, appear. Dressed in black, holding a plastic bottle, she didn’t have time to call for help, throwing the liquid in her face. The victim rushed to call the intercom to ask her mother for help: “Help me, Eddy threw acid at me.” A long convalescence followed in the hospital, where Gessica was hospitalized in critical condition due to severe burns that caused severe damage to her left eye, which has since undergone several operations.

After another outbreak of violence, when Tavares attacked and threatened some colleagues, Gessica decided to leave him, ending a two-year coexistence.
