The number of victims amounts to 3,193. Massa Carrara, Florence and Pistoia the most affected provinces. Positive 17% of new suspected cases of contagion
FLORENCE – Covid-19 continues to kill even in Tuscany and the long list of victims is getting longer. In today’s new regional newsletter there are 42, 24 men and 18 women with an average age of over 82 years. The total thus amounts to 3,193.
The new positive cases are 445 cases, with an average age of about 47 years. 2,617 suspected cases were identified by smear, of which 17% were positive. By adding the control swabs, 7,132 people were tested, plus another 496 who underwent rapid antigenic swabs.
Today there are 1,038 healed and the total amounts to 92,117. They represent 81.7% of all cases of infection.
Excluding the dead and cured, the current positives for Covid in Tuscany are 17,479 today, 3.5% less than yesterday. Of these, the hospitalized are 1,403 (4 more than yesterday), of which 210 in intensive care (9 less).
Another 16,076 infected people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care or are free of symptoms (639 fewer than yesterday.
On the other hand, there are 27,779 (323 fewer than yesterday) people, also isolated, under active surveillance for having had contact with infected people (ASL Center 8,805, Northwest 14,303, Southeast 4,671).
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday:
– 31,486 cases in total to date in Florence (95 more than yesterday), 9,913 in Prato (38 more), 10,002 in Pistoia (51 more),
– 7,235 in Massa-Carrara (33 more), 11,484 in Lucca (60 more), 15,740 in Pisa (64 more), 7,882 in Livorno (45 more),
– 10,049 in Arezzo (36 more), 4,557 in Siena (18 more), 3,886 in Grosseto (5 more).
There are 195 cases found today in the Central Local Health Authority, 191 in the Northwest, 59 in the Southeast.
Tuscany remains in 10th place in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 3,024 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average of around 3,055 per 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 3,846 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 3,756, Massa-Carrara with 3,713, the lowest Siena with 1,705.
The 3,193 who died since the beginning of the epidemic are divided as follows since the beginning of the pandemic: 1,107 in Florence, 219 in Prato, 250 in Pistoia, 351 in Massa-Carrara, 285 in Lucca, 355 in Pisa, 233 in Livorno, 184 AD Arezzo, 102 in Siena, 72 in Grosseto, 35 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 85.6 x 100,000 residents versus 106.9 per 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa-Carrara (180.1 per 100,000), Florence (109.5 per 100,000) and Pistoia (85.5 per 100,000), the lowest in Grosseto ( 32.5 per 100,000).
