French President Emmanuel Macron has announced a referendum to insert a reference to fighting climate change and protecting the environment into the French Constitution. Macron himself made it known at the end of a meeting with some representatives of the committee of 150 citizens chosen by lottery that for months have been formulating some proposals to limit climate change. Macron had previously announced that he would accept the vast majority of requests made by the committee. The world writes that a climate change law is expected in late January that should contain some of these measures.
Macron specified that the referendum will propose to change article one of the Constitution, considered by far the most important, but has not yet announced a date for the vote.
