Tragedy on the Rome-Florence high-speed tracks: a man was found dead in Capena after being run over by a train near the Sant’Oreste tunnel.
The discovery took place around 3:15 am, while the death according to the coroner would date back to 20:30 yesterday. The scene with the beheaded and shorn body also at shoulder height is heartbreaking.
At the scene, in addition to the Termini Railway Police in Rome, the forensic team intervened. Investigations are underway to trace the man’s identity and reconstruct what happened. The section where the body was found is currently undergoing maintenance work, so it is not ruled out that the man was a homeless man who had found refuge in the tunnel.
Starting at 9:05 am, the previously slowed down railway traffic gradually recovers after the authorization to restart the trains granted by the competent authorities intervened in the place. The operations caused delays of up to 50 minutes for 6 High Speed trains, 4 Intercity, 11 Regional, while 10 Regional were limited on the route.
