The hopes of the Tuscans were disappointed despite pressure from President Eugenio Giani
Tuscany will remain in the orange zone, probably until December 20. Despite a significant improvement in data on contagion, despite pressure from Governor Eugenio Giani, Tuscans’ hopes of being able to access the lowest risk band, the yellow one, are disappointed, with the consequent relaxation of restrictive measures.
In the group of regions that turn yellow (Basilicata, Calabria, Lombardy and Piedmont), Tuscany does not exist.
In Italy, the Rt index fell, from 0.91 to 0.82. Tuscany has an index below the national average, that is, 0.76. The RT indicates how many people can be infected by a single person on average and during a certain period of time, in relation to the effectiveness of the restrictive measures. But the Scientific Technical Committee maintains the line of prudence.
The incidence of cases in the population continues to be high in the national territory, around 450 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. “In some areas of the country there is an increase in the incidence itself. The employment rate in both the medical and intensive care areas remains above the critical threshold. Therefore, despite a slight decrease in RT, it is necessary that the public continue to maintain an extremely prudent behavior ”, said Gianni Rezza, Director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health.
Among the unfavorable Tuscan parameters, along with those of 15 other regions, is the “high impact” on health services due to the overload of the medical and intensive care areas.
