The report of theHigher Institute of Health in the trend ofCovid-19 epidemic in Italy published on December 11, 2020 reveals that the situation improving, even if the circulation of the Sars-CoV-2 virus remains sustained in all Italian regions, and 16 of them exceed the critical threshold regarding the impact on the National Health Service.

Rt values lower than 1 in 20 are found between Regions and Autonomous Provinces. Of these, 19 have a point Rt of less than one even in their highest credibility range, indicating a significant decrease in transmissibility.
High risk regions
According to the report, although there is still a generalized reduction in risk, 14 regions are classified as moderate risk, two as low risk (Basilicata and Molise) and 5 as high risk. (Emilia Romagna, Province of Trento, Puglia, Sardinia and Veneto). Two of the five regions classified as high risk (Apulia and Sardinia) have been classified as high risk for 3 or more consecutive weeks, and this provides for the adoption of specific measures at provincial and regional level.
The incidence is still very high
According to the report, the number of people admitted to intensive care decreased from 3,663 (as of December 1) to 3,345 (as of December 8), and the number of people admitted to medical areas also decreased, from 32,811 (as of December 1) . to 30,081 (as of December 8). The bed occupancy rate, however, still exceeds the critical occupancy thresholds at the national level and in 16 of the Autonomous Regions and Provinces. And the incidence is still too high to allow sustainable management, so it is necessary to maintain current restrictions to keep transmission levels significantly below 1 throughout the national territory.
