They would have obtained accreditation for the health service of their private hospital and the removal of an “uncomfortable” manager. In exchange, they would have offered the hiring of two people linked to the former director of ASL Roma 3. According to the “Il Fatto Quotidiano” website, these are the accusations made by the Rome Prosecutor against Simonetta Garofalo, owner of Grupo Sanigest Spa, and her husband Maurizio Pigozzi, general manager of the holding company. The spouses are being investigated for complicity in corruption together with the former director of ASL Roma 3, Vitaliano De Salazar, and the former regional councilor, Michele Baldi, for five years leader of the Zingaretti List. Il Fatto Quotidiano explains that Michele Baldi, after not being chosen for the 2018 Regionals, was hired (from November 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019) on the staff of the Governor of the Lazio Region, Nicola Zingaretti. And it is precisely from this position that, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, it would have done the interests of the alleged corrupters.

Contacted by ilfattoquotidiano.it, the lawyers for Garofalo and Pigozzi stated that the two spouses “immediately requested to be heard by the magistrates and presented substantial documentation capable of demonstrating their strangeness to the accusations.” Even the lawyers for Baldi and De Salazar speak of total “strangeness to the controversial facts.”
