Newsletter December 10: data on today’s coronavirus in Italy

There are 16,999 new coronavirus cases found in Italy today after 171,586 swabs were performed. Since yesterday, another 887 deaths have been registered, raising the total number of victims to 62,626 since the beginning of the emergency. 3,291 patients admitted to intensive care, with a decrease of 29 units compared to the previous day.

The positive data refer to the number of patients cured that has exceeded one million people (1,027,994). Currently the positives in Italy are 696,527 (-13,988 since yesterday). These are the data processed by the Ministry of Health, which can also be consulted on the Civil Protection website. As for the most infected regions, there are 4,197 new cases in Veneto, 2,093 in Lombardy and 1,488 in Lazio.

With today’s data relaunched by the health ministry bulletin, Italy has exceeded one million recovered from Covid. Today, in fact, the people who came out of the infection and therefore negative to the test were 30,099 and take the total since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,027,994. The downward trend in hospitalizations for Covid also continues: for intensive care the decrease is 29 units in 24 hours for a total of 3,291. Hospitalizations with symptoms also drop to -565 for a total of 29,088. In contrast, the total number of people in isolation is 664,148.

Good news also on the rate of positive swabs, which experiences a drop of almost one point in 24 hours: with 16,999 cases out of 171,586 swabs performed, the figure stands at around 9.9%, while yesterday it was 10.8 %. In total, the number of swabs made since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 23,676,174. Figures in hand, therefore, the number of current positives to the virus also falls below the threshold of 700 thousand cases: with the current decrease of 13,988 cases, the total is 696,527, while last November 22 a peak of 805,947 cases: it was since November 15 that the figure did not fall below the threshold of 700 thousand cases.
