Solinas: starting from the areas considered to have the highest incidence

CAGLIARI. The mass detection decided by the Region will begin at Christmas to ensure detailed monitoring of the progress of the pandemic in Sardinia and raise the level of security for the entire resident population. This was announced by the President of the Region, Christian solinas, which followed the operational meeting held today, December 9, between the Department of Health, Ats senior management and Professor Andrea Crisanti, who ratified his total commitment to the strategy decided by the Region to counteract the pandemic in the region. “The entire regional health structure will be mobilized – specifies President Solinas – and we will take advantage of the collaboration of Regional Civil Protection, the Red Cross and military health, with which an interlocution aimed at full collaboration has already begun. While the acquired tests are arriving, the operational plan with which the test campaign will be carried out emerges, starting from the areas considered with the highest incidence of the disease and then extending the screening to the entire island ”.

For screening in the territory, the Region will use two types of rapid swabs: the first type, of which 800 thousand pieces are arriving, is an oropharyngeal swab capable of giving the result in 13 minutes. There are also 200,000 rapid antigen tests, always waiting 13 minutes, which perform the analysis of the sample using a small electrical device. The degree of reliability is very high. The pads of the former type can also be used outdoors, in any type of location, while the latter require electricity. The protocol foresees that the test is repeated after 7-8 days; those who test positive will be subjected to a molecular swab.
