FLORENCE – In Tuscany, the health services have diagnosed 505 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours with an average age of approximately 48 years (13% are under 20 years, 22% between 20 and 39 years, 34% between 40 and 59 years, 19% between 60 and 79, 12% are 80 years or older).
New positives were identified by performing 2,798 molecular swabs in the largest number of suspected cases, of which 18% were infected compared to 15.7% yesterday. Also considering the control swabs, we reached 9,878 tests, almost 1,800 more than yesterday, to which we must add 451 rapid antigen tests.
Today there are also 24 new deaths: 8 men and 16 women with an average age of 84.4 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased are: 8 in Florence, 1 in Prato, 4 in Pistoia, 6 in Pisa, 2 in Arezzo, 1 in Siena, 2 in Grosseto. The total number of victims is 2,957.
The current positives are 24,605 today, -5.5% compared to yesterday. The number of people hospitalized in Covid wards is increasing, today there are 12 more for a total of 1,600 patients, of which 253 in intensive care (stable).
Another 23,005 people are isolated at home with mild or asymptomatic symptoms (1,431 fewer than yesterday). There are 30,094 (1,231 fewer than yesterday) people, also isolated, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 9,636, Northwest 15,055, Southeast 5,403).
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday:
– There are 30,731 cases in total to date in Florence (156 more than yesterday), 9,687 in Prato (33 more), 9,710 in Pistoia (56 more),
– 7,000 in Massa (48 more), 11,130 in Lucca (58 more), 15,287 in Pisa (54 more), 7,694 in Livorno (35 more),
– 9,852 in Arezzo (26 more), 4,449 in Siena (24 more), 3,828 in Grosseto (15 more).
555 positive cases are reported in Tuscany + but resident in other regions.
The 2,957 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic are divided as follows: 1,057 in Florence, 210 in Prato, 229 in Pistoia, 331 in Massa Carrara, 270 in Lucca, 318 in Pisa, 220 in Livorno, 141 in Arezzo, 89 in Siena, 67 in Grosseto, 25 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
The Tuscan crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 79.3 x 100,000 residents versus 101.5 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (169.8 x 100 000), Florence (104.5 x 100 000) and Prato (81.5 x 100 000), the lowest in Grosseto (30.2 x 100,000).
