“The first thing I did when I got home was see if the lights were on. If everything was lit, it meant that we would not sleep that night. For loud music and chaos. There is a world that has remained in the shadows for years in the building near Piazza Duomo that has become the kingdom of Alberto Genovese and its exclusive nights, which for those who live there was “a nightmare that lasted more than two years.”
Dozens of episodes, at least 13 police and carabinieri interventions, complaints and denunciations of exaggerated parties in “Terrazza sentimento”. Talking about that period from the inside is Fabio (real name), 38 years old, I work in an IT company, wife of 35, entrepreneur and artist, a young daughter. For months, before the story of violence against the 18-year-old model that cost Genovese was arrested (also investigated for an alleged rape of a 23-year-old girl in Ibiza), and the images of the nights began to circulate everywhere, fought an endless battle just to be able to sleep one eye at night. Even the Austrian consul who lives nearby and other residents have called the police dozens of times and now, with investigations into disturbing the public peace closed, Genovese risks prosecution for this too.
Today Fabio and his family live outside Milan but plan to return: «It all started at the end of May 2017 with the opening party, we were not there that weekend – he says -. If you have a party a month, that’s fine. In fact, at first we let loose thinking it was sporadic. Instead, the situation has worsened. ‘ The most critical moments in Fashion Week and Furniture Week: “Even three or four parties in a few days.” Thus began the first complaints.
Genovese leaves his mobile number, he seems polite. It doesn’t last long: “Then he stopped responding”. Then all that was left was to turn to the police. “We called at least twice as many times as agents actually intervened. The police had their hands tied because, as they told us, they could not enter the house. The neighbors think that drugs are also circulating, but they are only fears, suspicions without proof. “Once, as soon as the agents arrived, Genovese’s lawyers showed up.” So the family depends on lawyers and private investigators.
The “verifications” begin on the night of Wednesday May 29, 2019. On the terrace is a performance by a well-known actor-singer. In front of the door of the building, a kind of gorilla stands guard as if it were the entrance to a disco: “Are you here for Signor Alberto’s party?”. Once inside the patio with columns lined with white marble, thanks to a secret code, the mostly female guests take the elevator to the sixth floor, which stops the other tenants at the fifth floor. Here Genovese installed a heavy door that still prevents access to the stairs: “Private property.” Then he had the rest of the steps bricked up, blocking the way to the elevator shaft. So much so that the businessman, after the protests of the neighbors, in order not to “reopen” the access to the flat, moved the engine system to the ground floor on his own. “Terrace feeling” is a theme on social media. the hashtag on Instagram they refer to videos of birthday parties, bachelor parties, pool parties. On the Facebook page where even Genovese’s cell phone is, a woman asks if she can “rent the place for a 50th birthday party” as if it were a disco. “The doorman advised us to prepare for a sleepless night because boxes of alcohol had passed in the afternoon,” says Fabio. He is a foreigner, has been working here for 3 years and simply says that the Genovese house is closed.
Held on May 28, 2017 40 years of the startup assistant. At the party there are dozens of young people, DJs, photographer, vocalist and saxophonist. Images of champagne and cocktails end on social networks, dozens of people on the terrace holding bright torches. Each guest has a white bracelet on his wrist, as in the tourist villages. “My wife had a panic attack once and we had to call 911. Our baby was just born. After giving birth, she had to take relaxers. Unfortunately, there are those who think that everything is possible with money: I pay and do what I want.
