Governor Massimiliano Fedriga and his deputy Riccardo Riccardi announced at a press conference (live here) the new limitations designed to contain opportunities for reunion and contagion on Fvg.

The first recommendation is not to visit the houses of other families, because it is the circumstance in which we lower our guard and expose ourselves more ”.
“If we do not do this we would put too many people at risk. I have to thank all the health personnel, who are doing an enormous job. We are aware of the difficulties and we know that with these numbers there are problems, so we must all keep our attention “.
“That is precisely why we have approved a new ordinance – effective as of tomorrow – with rules to avoid meetings. We reconfirm that only one person per household will be able to buy in food stores, while for commerce, stores will be able to accommodate one person every 20 square meters; with less than 40 square meters, the activities can accommodate one client at a time. “
“For the local, from 11 to 18, there will only be drinks sitting. We also present sanctions for breach of capacity limits, which must be clearly indicated in all commercial activities “.
“Then we add one recommendation, to assign the 10-12 slot as ‘protected’ time for over 65s and an invitation to use public transport only out of necessity. “
“We are putting great pressure on tampons. Unlike other Regions, we continue to do a lot of molecular tests (with peaks of 10,000 per day) because the protection of health happens to find the most positive possible ”.
“The virus is still present and is spreading significantly throughout the Region,” Riccardi said. “The number of positives in tampons is still high and is widespread throughout the country. We are a few days behind in comparison with the national context. We still have strong evidence to support to live with the contagion, or to respect the rules. “In the last week (November 23-29) the number of symptomatic cases improved compared to the previous week. The positive cases went from 5,238 to 4,934 in the course of the week ”, explains Riccardi. “The Rt is currently at 0.92. I remember we started from a Rt at 1.6 (October 26, November 1).”
“We observed 1,856 active outbreaks in the reference week, of which 824 new ones; the spread of the infection reverses the conditions compared to the first phase (where Trieste had been the most affected area, ed), because 507 refer to the AsuFc territory. The origin is fundamentally family – equivalent to 1,573 outbreaks – followed by workplaces (one hundred outbreaks), nursing homes (65), schools (52) and hospitals (25), ”said the lieutenant governor.
“At the moment, I don’t see the need to repeat the massive test experiment., because we run the risk of stealing resources from the health system (we need at least one doctor and one nurse). We will do all the evaluations, based on the incidence of contagion in the territory, but for now we have no indication of this need, “said Riccardi.” The objective is to invest to reactivate the tracking system which is currently in trouble, and not just at Fvg, but across the country. Yes thanks to saliva tests (currently in the validation process, ed), we will be able to allocate professional resources – which as we know are limited – to the Prevention Departments instead of the material execution of the swabs, in the space of a few weeks we could revolutionize the entire system of follow-up, certification and follow-up of cases ”.
“I reiterate that the ban on leaving the municipalities for vacations – added Fedriga – is an unfair measure. I don’t think it serves to contain infections and it is also unfair to restaurants, which can stay open. We need fair and understandable measures for citizens. It is won only together with the population and the criticisms have come from all the Regions, but also from some exponents of the Democratic Party. We introduce measures that are always applied, not only on December 25 and 26 and January 1 ”.
“It may be deceiving me, but I reiterate my call to fight together against the virus. If confusing messages reach the population, we run the risk that the unity of behavior and intentions will fail ”.
“I agree with the – rigorous – introduction of quarantines for those arriving from abroad. I have seen the data from several neighboring countries and they are worrying, so it is fair that this protection measure also exists for the citizens of the Fvg”, Fedriga said then.
