Adolf Hitler elected in Namibia. “My father didn’t know who he was, that’s why he called me that”

The new district councilor for Ompundha, in the Oshana region of Namibia, is named Adolf Hitler Uunona. Of course, with such a name it could not stop being commented and its story was taken up by Bild. As said by the newly elected, deciding by that name was the father and not by a reference to the Nazi leader. In fact, “he probably didn’t even know what the real Adolf Hitler had done.” Also because Uunona’s career has focused on opposing apartheid and for some time she has been a member of the Socialist People’s Organization of South West Africa (Swapo).

Certainly, says the person concerned, he has no right to “subjugate Nashana” or the “world” as was the intention of the other Hitler. “My father named me in honor of this man. He probably didn’t understand what Adolf Hitler stood for ”.

The truth is, when he found out who his namesake was, it couldn’t have been easy. “When I was a kid it was normal.
