Liguria. As of today Liguria is in yellow zone. The decision was made on Friday by the government despite the fact that Minister Speranza had confirmed the orange zone last Tuesday until December 3 with an order shared by the president of the Region.

“Today is a really important day for Liguria – said Giovanni Toti – after so much effort, after a extraordinary work done by our doctors, nurses and all health personnelAfter the sacrifices made by all the citizens, Liguria returns to the yellow zone. As of this morning, bars and restaurants will reopen, you can move between municipalities, you can go visit your family. It is a goal that we have pursued with great tenacity and we did it among the first in Italy to go to the orange zone and return to the yellow one. In a month we have halved the penetration capacity of the virus and we are there region with the best Rt contagion rate in Italy: last night it was 0.76. I am very proud of it ”.

The president illustrated yesterday the data of the bulletin emphasizing that “all the data have a minus sign in front and that means that we are going in the right direction. Today’s new positives, 454 people, are about a third of those at the peak of the epidemic. The penetration of the virus decreases uniformly throughout Liguria. And the number of people hospitalized is also declining, which I expect will decline again – we are overall below 1,100 where we hadn’t been for some time. In the last few months we had reached nearly 1,600 occupied beds and were ready to go up to almost 2,000. This is a sign that our talented doctors have increased their healing abilities, their knowledge of the virus, which we are able to intercept first, avoiding dangerous complications as much as possible. “

“These data – Toti continues – confirm one tendency that citizens have the merit, they are the protagonists and the architects. If many bars and restaurants reopen, if you can visit your loved ones again, even with great caution and attention, all of this is possible. thanks to the collective effort of the Ligurians, of which I am proud“.

“On Monday we will meet again with the government: I have already presented our proposals – continues the president of the Liguria Region – and I think that in the days of the next holidays the restaurants should be able to stay open even at night., because they have already suffered a lot. Of course, it will not be Christmas and New Year with the festivities in the square, there will be no dances but in any case our merchants, artisans, food producers will be able to enrich our homes and our tables with their wonderful products and our cities will be beautiful and illuminated. That is why we have helped the mayors of Liguria to configure their cities with Christmas lights that recall the magic of this time, which even the covid should not completely ruin. “

On the return of Liguria to the yellow zone, the President of Liguria adds: “It is not an acquired result. If we underestimate the situation and behave as if it were a ‘free all’, we will return and the first to pay the price would be our economic activities. If we are not careful, we run the risk of spending a Christmas in the orange zone and there will be serious problems. If, on the other hand, we all work together, we can still have a great Christmas. That is why I invite everyone to maintain the attitude and rigor of these weeks. We all have to work to consolidate the result we have achieved with so much effort in order to improve even more ”, he concludes.
