Milan, November 25, 2020 – The plan on the Vaccine for COVID-19 “It is a top priority of the government. I will be in Parliament on December 2 to present the strategic plan for vaccines that we are building.” Then the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza. Unlike the flu vaccine – the minister clarified in the RCS Academy talk – “in this case, purchases are centralized by the state. Italy was the first country, since May, to promote a European initiative on vaccines. The Commission European began to build contracts with pharmaceutical companies, others will be signed in the next few hours, even important ones, and this will allow Italy to have 13.65% of all vaccines already optional in EuropeAnd he reiterates: “It is not the individual Regions that buy the vaccine, but the State through European procedures that will have it directly. There will also be a distribution of the plan with the territories, but it is a fundamental game ”, concluded Speranza.

Meanwhile the European Comission approved the sixth anti-Covid vaccine contract with the pharmaceutical company Modern. The contract provides for the initial purchase of 80 million doses on behalf of all EU member states, plus an option to request up to 80 million additional doses, which will be provided once the vaccine is proven safe and effective against COVID-19. The contract with Moderna, announced yesterday by Ursula von der Leyen, will expand the portfolio of vaccines for EU countries, adding to the agreements reached with AstraZeneca, Sanofi-GSK, Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, BioNTech-Pfizer and CureVac.
