While the ministry inspectors are already working in Sicily, the Health Department investigates the times to discharge patients from hospitals, in some cases too long.
The average length of stay in the rooms must not exceed 13 days. But a report from the department, as Giacinto Pipitone tells in the newsstands of Giornale di Sicilia, shows that 13 hospitals far exceed this threshold. The slowest hospitals in the discharge phase are Sant’Elia di Caltanissetta (which has a negative history with an average stay of 25 days), Sciacca (17 days), Messina Polyclinic (20 days), Maria SS Addolorata di Biancavilla (18.5 days).
In Palermo, the Civico (17.6 days), the Cervelló (13.3) and the Polyclinic (13.7 days) have hospitalizations above the average. Same situation in Marsala, where an internment lasts an average of 14 days, and in Mazara where you can go up to 16. In the red zone there are also three Ethnic structures: Garibaldi Nesima, San Marco and Rodolico all with discharge times of more than 2 weeks.
Razza is planning directives to speed up procedures and yesterday he also announced a plan so that hospitalized patients can communicate with family members through monitors or video calls and with the help of psychologists.
