After the one presented in Veneto by Governor Zaia, a pad “do it yourself” created by the Campania start-up of the Health Tech sector «Testami» together with Biogem, the scientific research center of Ariano Irpino (Avellino), which operates in the fields of molecular genetics and biotechnology. The innovative “do-it-yourself” swab, in fact, allows patients to perform sampling autonomously and also seamlessly send samples to research laboratories. A team of Biogem researchers led by the professor worked together with the startup “Testami” Michele Caraglia and by doctors Alessandra Pucci and Alessia Cossu. According to an investigation by Biogem, a note says, “Self-collected swabs allow the correct diagnosis of positive cases of covid-19 with a percentage of concordance equal to 94.74% compared to the swab administered by health professionals” . Furthermore, “from the tests carried out, it is possible to conclude that the swab maintains the stability of the viral genome even in a dry state without the need for refrigeration and transport of liquid”. “After having certified the kit in the Ministry of Health – the Testami note concludes – the startup is ready to go out into the field together with institutions and companies to support the population selection process and make its contribution to the coronavirus”.
