The South Tyrol health authorities have released the results of the tests that are being carried out in the province with a large participation of the population
Until Sunday morning they were tested with a quick swab 269,901 South Tyrol which underwent the ongoing mass screening since Friday in South Tyrol. Of these, So far, 2,626 have tested positive for Covid-19, 1% of the participants.
The swabs, which are carried out in 116 municipalities, where 600 test lines have been installed, continue all day until 6 in the afternoon. “If the trend continues, tonight we will exceed our 350,000 tes targett ”, said Florian Zerzer, director general of the health authority, which corresponds to 70% of the population of South Tyrol. “In some municipalities we have already had to send supplies, because the stock of fast buffers has run out,” added Zerzer.
Even the governor of South Tyrol, Arno Kompatscher, confirms the success of the operation: “We are very satisfied with the large participation in the mass screening, which is going oltre to our expectations. It is a great sign of civic sense, of the assumption of responsibility by citizens, as well as an expression of the will to take an active role in the fight against the pandemic ”.
The restrictive measures provided for by the ordinances issued by the province of Bolzano will last until November 29, and in this regard Kompatscher clarifies how premature it is to talk about the opening of the ski season: “We hope that In January You can also restart this activity, but everything will depend on the epidemiological trend and our discipline in complying with the rules of distance, use of the mask and hand hygiene, obviously also on the situation in other Italian regions and in other European countries . . Without tourists there can be no tourism ”.
Meanwhile, kindergartens and primary schools have reopened in the province since Tuesday: “The main objective is reopen classroom teaching activities. After November 29, we intend to reactivate certain economic activities, starting with those with the lowest risk, and then gradually in September December, if the epidemiological trend allows it, to reopen more and more activities, ”concluded the governor.
