When (and how) do the ski slopes reopen?

the ski slopes Could reopen. Now that the pandemic data is improving, in fact, regional Governors are thinking of a way to give encouragement to the ski resorts – closed by the DPCM on October 25 – to try somehow save the winter season that will start fromDecember 8.

It will not be a free all since it will be necessary to provide the safe reopening of the ski facilities. strict rules. But at least those regions where skiing is a considerable resource, given the winter tourism that derives from it, will try to ask the government to allow a resumption, albeit partial, of activities.

Tomorrow we will have the answer to the question about When – e I knowyou can go back to skiing. Some Italian governors, in fact, on Monday November 23 will present their proposal for the reopening of the ski lifts.

In this sense, let’s see come – if it will be possible – we will go back to skiing this winter.

Will the winter season begin?

Every year the ski season brings a related activities of around € 3 billion. Obviously this year it will not even come close to this figure, however the objective of the Regions is to save what can be saved. For this reason, already at the State-Regions conference scheduled for tomorrow, some Regions will propose a reasoned reopening plan from the ski slopes.

In reality, this project has been in the plans of the Regions for some time, however, they wanted to wait for the health situation to improve before being able to present it to the attention of the Government. The Regions that will join forces so that the ski season can start regularly, already on December 8, are those that have more interest about it, that is to say Lombardy, Piedmont, Val d’Aosta (which, however, does not live in a simple health situation), Autonomous Province of Trento and autonomous province of Bolzano, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Abruzzo me Veneto.

Here, in detail, what is the plan designed by these to allow safe reopening of all floorsin the hope that the Government will achieve theauthorization to leave.

How will we go back to skiing? The regions recovery plan

The one conceived by the Regions is an articulated plan to allow the start of the ski season but without putting people’s health at risk.

For this reason it is decided that Only in the Orange or Yellow Zone Regions it will be possible to open the floors, while in therossa zone we will have to wait for better times. However, as Zaia, governor of the Veneto region explained, it is only a proposal that can only be implemented if at the beginning of December “infections will go a certain way“(As we all hope).

In detail, in the document called “Proposal of guidelines for the use of lifts in ski resorts and areas by amateur skiers“The following rules are read:

  • imposition of a maximum number of daily visits. Therefore, it will not be possible to sell passes beyond the maximum limit identified according to the capacity of the facility;
  • in the yellow zones there are no particular limitations other than the usual ones, such as wearing masks and keeping your distance. In addition, in the orange areas, the plants will remain active but with a reduction in capacity: in fact, a further reduction is added to the maximum capacity identified based on the size of the structure (including the different areas). The plants, in fact, will remain active with a reduction of flow rate equal to 50%;
  • there is an exception in case of thunderstorms. In this case, to prevent skiers from crowding the hill stations, a full load will be allowed for the descent into the valley.

This is the plan, for which however doubts are not lacking. For example, it remains to be understood, considering the high operating costs, how the plants in the orange areas will win if they can only partially function. In any case we will discuss it and try to save the season, but only if you realize that this will not compromise the health situation by causing a resurgence of infections.
