Poor Calabria: there were 3 who had to save us: one is dead, another is arrested and another is investigating his mind

by Giusva Branca – Imagine being Calabrese (exercise is very difficult if you are not) and you fell asleep three months ago.

Imagine falling asleep during the umpteenth crisis – indeed it has been uninterrupted for decades – in Calabrian healthcare and at a time when the institutional leaders of the Region and the sector were meeting to try to address this epoch emergency.

And so, imagine that Governor Santelli, the President of the Regional Council, Tallini and the extraordinary commissioner of health of Calabria, General Cotticelli, were meeting to decide the fate of our future and that of our children.

Imagine, therefore, that you have fallen asleep – in a situation of marked anguish, however, given the socioeconomic and health situation of Calabria – waiting for at least one word of hope to come out of this meeting of the highest institutional leaders.

Imagine, again, that you woke up this morning.

“But how long have I slept?” ask whoever is close to you.

“Uh, quite a while, about three months”

Gradually, the faded contours are defined and you understand where you are, what happened to you, what is happening around you. Immediately ask for news of your loved ones, luckily they are all fine, then you find out about the Covid situation and here things are not going well.

Suddenly, like a lightning in the night, everything clears up, you remember everything, the details of anxiety, fear for the general state of Calabria and in particular health.

The memory returns like a cannonball to that famous meeting in progress when, for mysterious reasons, you fell asleep.

Ask those around you: “But listen, how did that encounter between Santelli, Tallini and Cotticelli end?”

The grimace of those who have to answer you is a whole program, you understand that you have touched a strange key due to the fact that your interlocutor stutters, searches for words, does not answer.

“So?” – questions – “Santelli, Tallini, Cotticelli, those who have to save Calabria, what happened to them?”

“Um, look” – they reply after catching their breath – “Santelli went on to a better life, Tallini was arrested and Cotticelli ‘made peace'”

“And now?” you ask?

“Sleep some more, I’ll wake you up, then …”
