MASSA-CARRARA – In Tuscany there are 84,197 cases of coronavirus positivity, 2,361 more than yesterday (1,666 identified in the course of screening and 695 from detection activities). New cases are 2.9% more than the total of the previous day. The average age of the 2,361 cases at present is around 49 years (9% are under 20, 25% between 20 and 39, 34% between 40 and 59, 21% between 60 and 79, 11% have 80 years or older).
Those cured grew 7.7% and reached 28,078 (33.3% of all cases). The swabs performed reached 1,363,146, 15,695 more than yesterday, of which 15% were positive. On the other hand, 6,961 subjects evaluated today (excluding control swabs), of which 33.9% were positive. To these are added the 2,753 rapid antigenic swabs that are carried out today. The current positives are 54,152 today, + 0.6% compared to yesterday. There are 2,069 hospitalized (8 more than yesterday), of which 277 in intensive care (7 less).
Today there are 52 new deaths: 28 men and 24 women with an average age of 83 years. Regarding the province of residence, the deceased are: 22 in Florence, 4 in Prato, 3 in Pistoia, 2 in Massa-Carrara (two women aged 83 and 95), 7 in Lucca, 9 in Pisa, 2 in Livorno, 2 in Siena, 1 in Grosseto. It is reiterated that it will still be up to the Higher Institute of Health to definitively attribute the deaths to the coronavirus: in fact they could be people who already had comorbidities.
These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – related to the advance of the epidemic in the region.
It should be remembered that as of June 24, 2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile.
The following are the cases of positivity in the area with the change compared to yesterday. There are 23,838 cases in total to date in Florence (667 more than yesterday), 7,401 in Prato (204 more), 7,129 in Pistoia (209 more), 5220 in Massa-Carrara (257 plus: Carrara 74, Massa 105, Montignoso 17, Aulla 22, Bagnone 3, Comano 3, Filattiera 1, Fivizzano 8, Fosdinovo 2, Licciana Nardi 8, Mulazzo 1, Podenzana 5, Pontremoli 3, Tresana 3, Villafranca in Lunigiana 2), 8,061 in Lucca (354 more), 11,659 in Pisa (290 more), 5,874 in Livorno (155 more), 8,047 in Arezzo (92 more), 3,588 in Siena (94 more), 2,825 in Grosseto (39 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
Therefore, there are 1,080 cases found today in the ASL Center (sum of the provinces of Florence, Prato, Pistoia), 1,056 in the Northwest (Massa Carrara, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno), 225 in the Southeast (Arezzo, Siena, Grosseto).
Tuscany ranks seventh in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 2,258 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average of 1,998 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The provinces with the highest notification rate are Prato with 2,872 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 2,782, Massa Carrara with 2,679, and the lowest Grosseto with 1,275.
In total, 52,083 people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital care or do not have symptoms (293 more than yesterday, plus 0.6%). There are 47,784 (3,487 more than yesterday, plus 7.9%) people, also isolated, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 16,502, Northwest 19,764, Southeast 11,518).
The people hospitalized in the beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 2,069 (8 more than yesterday, more 0.4%), 277 in intensive care (7 less than yesterday, less 2.5%).
The total number of people cured is 28,078 (2,008 more than yesterday, plus 7.7%): 1,833 people clinically cured (80 more than yesterday, more 4.6%), that is, they were asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with Infection and 26,245 (1,928 more than yesterday, plus 7.9%) declared cured in all aspects, the so-called viral cures, with double negative swab.
There are 1,967 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 730 in Florence, 112 in Prato, 153 in Pistoia, 235 in Massa Carrara, 206 in Lucca, 196 in Pisa, 126 in Livorno, 100 in Arezzo, 54 in Siena , 38 in Grosseto, 17 people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.
Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 52.7 x 100,000 residents versus 75.8 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (120.6 x 100 000), Florence (72.2 x 100 000) and Lucca (53.1 x 100 000), the lowest in Grosseto (17.1 x 100,000).
THE SITUATION IN ASL TNO HOSPITALS
Regarding hospitalizations for Covid-19, in the Northwest Tuscany Usl hospitals there are a total of 516 (yesterday they were 511), of which 68 (yesterday they were 70) in intensive care. In the Livorno hospital 116 patients, of which 13 in intensive care. In the Lucca hospital 103 patients, of which 16 in intensive care. 105 hospitalized in the Apuane hospital (stable compared to yesterday), of which 18 in intensive care (+1 compared to yesterday). In the Versilia hospital 103 patients, 12 of them in intensive care. In the Pontedera hospital 47 patients, of which 5 in intensive care. In the Cecina hospital 25 patients, 4 of them in intensive care. In the Pontremoli hospital 17 hospitalized (+1 compared to yesterday). Finally, based on daily monitoring, throughout the USL Tuscany North West Company territory, to date (November 17) there are 19,764 (+1,303 compared to yesterday) people in quarantine for having had contact with infected people.
