Calabria: Gaudio, new health commissioner, resigns, “personal reasons” – Chronicle

The new Calabrian Health Commissioner, Eugenio Gaudio, has resigned from his position. The former rector of La Sapienza himself told Repubblica.it explaining that at the base of this decision there are “personal reasons”. After his resignation, less than 24 hours after his appointment at the CDM, the knot of electing a new Calabrian health commissioner is reopened.

“My wife,” he explained, “has no intention of moving to Catanzaro. A job like this must be faced with the utmost commitment and I have no intention of opening a family crisis ”.

“It would be an important challenge, but family is a value for me,” said Gaudio who, regarding the news about his participation in the research at the University of Catania, explained: “The barbarism of politics always catches my attention. I give you some news about it: the Catania prosecutor has just notified my lawyer that he has gone to present the request for dismissal for my alleged abuse of office.

Gino Strada would not be available to fill the position of health commissioner in Calabria. Several majority and government sources explain this. The founder of Emergency, as it became known yesterday, would have given his willingness to lend a hand, especially in the face of the Covid emergency in the Region, where Emergency is already present.
