Covid does not spare anyone, children and health professionals. It is the ruthless image that emerges from the latest report published by Azienda Zero della Regione (data updated to November 12) which aims to update the progress of the epidemic by focusing on many aspects. One of these concerns the number of new positive cases among those working in the health sectorWhat emerges is that, compared to the first wave, there are more infected.
The graph shows the trend of new cases, week by week, and it is striking that the last detected, that is, the one that goes from November 5 to 11, is higher than in all the spring weeks. In particular, the week of October 29 turns out to be the highest, at least for the moment, since the emergence of Sars-Cov 2 in Veneto began, that is, at the end of February. Next, it is worth noting another distinction. Among all health workers, those who currently show a higher trend on the curve, indicating a higher number of new infections, are the nurses, followed by operators in general. Only below are the oss, the hospital doctors and, therefore, a little lower, the general practitioners and pediatricians. Below these, there is another category, “other health workers”, understood as radiology technicians, for example, who fortunately see a linear trend, almost parallel to zero. So, there was a trend almost equal to zero for all health categories over a long period: from June to October 1. Only then all the curves dedicated to the different professions suddenly began to move upward. The governor, Luca Zaia, has always proudly cited the very low infection rates of doctors and nurses who are on the front line, confirming that the protections, that is, the masks, work well and should always be used by all Venetians. “The cause of the infections – explained Paolo Rosi, coordinator of the crisis committee for the emergency – is not, therefore, in the contagion with the positive patient in the hospital, but in extra-work occasions, in particular dinners in the restaurant and with friends ”. .
The other data emerging from the Zero Company report refer to children from 0 to 14 years: This range, including infants equally distributed by sex, represents 8.4% of positives. The obvious spread of Covid among the little ones is an all-fall phenomenon, in the sense that the numbers recorded last spring were very low compared to today. As for sanitary infections, they disappeared during the summer period, only to reappear in the second half of August in a slight way until the rapid increase from October to November.
