LECCO – Died at 62 Ferruccio Gianola, for all ‘Cippo’, former owner of Bar Oasi di Pescarenico. He had been battling cancer for some time.
Married with two children, Joel and Jasmine, the ‘Cippo’ was known in the city for the activity in the historic restaurant in via dei Pescatori carried out for 33 years. It was in 1985 when Gianola, a resident of Lecco but originally from Valsassina, opened Bar Oasi taking over the old Bar Adda.
A work carried out with passion and dedication until ‘Cippo’ made the painful decision to close the business. It was September 2018.
The difficulties in the many years spent behind the counter of his bar were not lacking: reports from the neighborhood and frequent police checks had been repeatedly denounced by Gianola, as well as the decline of the Pescarenico district, ‘forgotten’ by the institutions. “Our luck – he declared when announcing the closure of his bar – is to have a beautiful view, but if a tourist comes to visit us, they will not even find indications of the places in Manzoni.”
For more than a year, ‘Cippo’ had been battling cancer. Today, Sunday, November 15, he sadly passed away at his home in Belledo.
