A patient hospitalized in the Suspects area of the Cardarelli emergency room in Naples, with probable Covid-19 infection and already in therapy, was found lifeless in the emergency room bathroom. Upon finding the body, it was the hospital staff who noticed the excessive permanence of the man in the bathroom. At the moment it is not possible to establish what was the cause of the disease that caused the death, however the health department has initiated the necessary investigations.
And a few minutes after the death of the patient, a video showing the man’s body began to circulate on the network, filmed taking advantage of the withdrawal of rescuers who went to look for a stretcher on which to place it. “It is deplorable – says the director general of the Neapolitan hospital, Giuseppe Longo – that similar events are exploited in order to generate terrible and dangerous suggestions in public opinion ”. Precisely for this reason, and for “respect for the suffering of the family”, Cardarelli’s strategic management has launched an internal investigation aimed at finding out who and how filmed and distributed the video.
