Andrea Merloni, the last president of the white giant Indesit, died, probably of illness, at his home in Milan, who fought hard to prevent the sale of the family business to the American group Whirlpool, which instead took place in 2014.

He was 53 years old: he and his twin Aristide were the youngest children of Vittorio Merloni. He had worked at Indesit for 19 years, holding his presidency from 2010 until the sale of the company.

Born in 1967, in the family (four brothers, in addition to him Antonella, Maria Paola and Aristide, the same name as the founding grandfather of the company) Andrea had been one of the most convinced supporters of the idea of ​​maintaining the Italian group: It was sold in ‘October 2014 to the American group Whirlpool. Vittorio Merloni passed away in 2016 after a long illness that had long removed him from the management of the company.

Passionate about motorcycles, Andrea Merloni was not yet thirty years old when he took over and led the company of the historic Benelli brand. Among other things, he was also president of the Adriano Olivettì Management Training Institute in Ancona.
