Five Regions go from yellow to orange areas me a province becomes a red zone in relation to the risk linked to the Coronavirus emergency (here everything that can be done in the different areas).

Rt and epidemiological situation

And this happens just on the day that Covid cases in Italy drop drastically (+25,271 new cases of coronavirus, but with fewer swabs, 147,725 and 356 deaths, bringing the total to 41,750 victims since the beginning of pandemic), but the director general of Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Giovanni Rezza, speaks of “an epidemiological situation that continues to worsen in our country, with a Rt of about 1.7, more than 500 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants and almost all the most affected regions ”.

“This situation justifies more restrictive interventions, especially in the worst affected regions. We observe an upward trend and above all there is an increase in intensive care admissions ”, Rezza adds. The positive / swab percentage went from 17.06% yesterday, Sunday, November 8, to 17.1 today. There are 2,849 patients admitted to intensive care, an increase of 100 units.

That is why five Regions are now in the orange zone, with more restrictions, therefore, joining Puglia and Sicily, and one province goes to the red one, such as Calabria, Lombardy, Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta.

These are Abruzzo, Basilicata, Liguria, Tuscany and Umbria, and the autonomous province of Bolzano. The measure adopted by Minister Roberto Speranza will enter into force on Wednesday, November 11. On Tuesday the 10th, the fate of Campania is decided.

Abruzzo

The President of the Abruzzo Region, Marco Marsilio, said Minister Speranza anticipated the outcome of the meeting that established the passage of Abruzzo, along with Umbria, Basilicata, Liguria and Tuscany, in the orange zone. The effects of the provision that the minister is preparing to sign will take effect from Wednesday.

Basilicata

The passage from Basilicata to the orange zone was “inevitable” given the increase in infections, and this “will allow us to have greater control of the situation.” I imagine we could have more restrictions by staying in the orange zone ”, explains the president of the Basilicata Region, Vito Bardi. The situation in nursing homes and primary and secondary schools increases the number of infections. “In fact, we are thinking of increasing distance education.”

Liguria

Starting Wednesday, November 11, Liguria will become the Orange Zone for the next 14 days. “Although I am perplexed by the difference in treatment compared to last week, given more or less similar figures, I believe it is correct not to enter into controversy with the Government and take note of this decision,” said Governor Giovanni Toti. Without a doubt, our hospitals are under great pressure, the medical world is asking for interventions and in these situations we believe that the criterion of prudence should always prevail ”.

Tuscany

During the day, President Eugenio Giani intervened on the issue, who has been repeating for days that he would not have waged war on the government. “The perspective of the three zones seems to me that it is lived like a football match, but it is not like that.” So “if the CTS classifies us as an orange zone, we are calm, we will work as an orange zone to do the work that belongs to the Region, to have an ever greater supply of health to overcome the emergency situation.”

Umbria

“Move Umbria to the orange area? We take note of it. It is clear that this will affect bars, restaurants and all those activities that have already suffered significant damage so far, ”said the Governor of Umbria, Donatella Tesei. “The Government must now guarantee support for activities to face the crisis. It is not just a health emergency, it is also an economic emergency. Enough soft drink decree measures? I don’t know, they are measurements. Now the government must be prepared to adapt them to the situation ”.

Autonomous province of Bolzano

The autonomous province of Bolzano also changes color and turns red. As Governor Arno Kompatscher announced, “the epidemiological trend, with the numbers constantly increasing and the increasing number of municipalities, requires the red zone.” The Autonomous Province of Bolzano in the last 24 hours declared 781 new cases of 2,998 swabs and 4 deaths. South Tyrol, starting from the red zone on November 9, could soon apply an even tougher lockdown. “We have no alternatives, otherwise the entire healthcare system collapses,” said health advisor Thomas Widmann.
