There are about 180 students, located in various complexes, affected by the ordinance of preventive closure arranged by the mayor of L’Aquila, Pierluigi biondi, who accepted the request made this morning by the director Monia lai. The measure refers in particular the Montessori kindergarten in San Sisto (40 children), and the Santa Barbara and San Sisto Elementary which has 140 students between 6 and 10 years old, in which cases of positivity are occurring among children and among staff, teachers and non-teachers. In addition, in the schools subject to the provision, at least 30 workers are on duty to guarantee educational service.
“We have agreed with the manager to suspend the lessons only for tomorrow, for now. – Mayor Biondi explained – The motivation lies in the sensitivity of the situation of the institutes that inevitably involves families, but also the same staff, teachers and non-teachers.
Tomorrow the school administration will prepare the disinfection from the premises, as has been done on several occasions, the last one at the end of October. Also tomorrow it will be necessary to carry out more research on the positivity found.
“In the current situation, the surveillance of schools takes priority over all. We are doing everything, in the usual institutional collaborative spirit, to ensure that they remain functional. Temporary closures also serve the purpose of protection and precaution. We are in permanent contact with the school office and the local health authority for all necessary decisions ”, concluded the mayor.
