Monitoring does not work. Or at least it doesn’t work on time and on a regular basis. The monitoring booth that was supposed to process the data to be presented on Friday was postponed first to Saturday and then to Sunday. But even today a black smoke. After a long day of waiting, another one doing nothing: the control room does not meet, an appointment postponed to late Monday morning, perhaps, because now there is no certainty. The only one is that of infections, 32,616 today, and of such a situation of suffering in hospitals from north to south (with a particular situation in Naples one step away from being out of control) that led the president of the National Federation of Medici ordered, Filippo Anelli, to request a “total closure for the whole country.”
“The data does not arrive, or is incomplete,” justifies the government. A legitimate question, but one that cannot be answered. Ferruccio Sansa, Giallorossi’s candidate for the presidency of Liguria and today regional councilor, launches a harsh accusation: “Often, the data provided by the Liguria Region in the Ministry of Health report on Covid shows the definition ‘not assessable’ . The increase in transmission ‘is not assessable’, the risk classification is ‘not assessable’. I wonder how it is possible ”.
This is not a minor problem. Net of the missed monitoring this week and the utter confusion in waiting for what will be, the questions are piling up in the weeks ahead. The question is there and it is legitimate: how is a weekly automatism deduced from data that is incomplete at best and none at worst? In the CTS there are those who have been arguing for weeks that the parameters should be reduced, at least those that are useful or even determine some restrictive measure: “They should be six or seven, no more – they explain to Huffpost – of course, then the others collect them as much as possible, but in this way the situation runs the risk of becoming unmanageable ”.
When asked, Speranza replied that “it would be a serious crime to communicate false information”, sneaking into a controversy raised for the first time by Andrea Crisanti. In the government this thesis is not confirmed, there is no reason at the moment to suppose that there is a desire to “make up” the estimates. Maybe not in the same way, but it would still be serious even if the monitoring system was bypassed in your first application.
