Coronavirus in Tuscany: another 2,787 cases and 30 deaths, but there are also 614 new recovered

FLORENCE – There are 2,787 new cases of coronavirus positive people registered in Tuscany in the last twenty-four hours: 2,334 have been identified in the course of screening, another 453 through detection activities. In fact, 27.6 percent of the 10,087 people who tested positive were tested, excluding control swabs. There are thirty deaths: twenty men and ten women with an average age of 81.9 years.

The figures come from the bulletin that the Region produces daily from the requests of the National Civil Protection to monitor the progress of the epidemic, verified at noon today.

New cases are 4.8 percent more than the previous day’s total. Therefore, the number of Tuscans currently sick amounts to 41,583, 5.4% more than yesterday. Most are still at home or in health hotels (home isolation today exceeded the wall of 40,000: 40,001 to be precise), while those hospitalized are 1,582 (70 more in the last twenty-four hours), of which 214 in intensive care (5 more). Since the start of the pandemic in February, the total number of cases registered in Tuscany reached 60,467 and 17,352 have already recovered, clinically or with full effects. The swabs made in more than eight months were 1,198,493, 18,143 analyzed since yesterday to which 4,087 rapid antigenic swabs are added.

The average age of 2,787 cases today is about 46 years (13% are under 20, 26% between 20 and 39, 36% between 40 and 59, 18% between 60 and 79, 7% are 80 years or older , of which 1,448 are citizens living in the territories of the Central ASL, 849 in the Northwest, 490 in the Southeast.

Of 60,487 people who have contracted the virus since the beginning of the health emergency so far, according to the province of residence or address, 18,049 affect the area of ​​the metropolitan city of Florence (911 more than yesterday), 5,131 Prato (275 in plus) , 4,881 Pistoia (262 more), 3,368 Massa Carrara (64 more), 5,739 Lucca (234 more), 8,067 Pisa (381 more), 4,367 Livorno (170 more), 5,893 Arezzo (225 more)), 2,571 Siena (155 more ) and 1,846 Grosseto (110 more). To these are added 555 positive cases reported in Tuscany but involving residents of other regions.

Tuscany currently ranks seventh in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 1,621 positives per 100,000 inhabitants (the Italian average is about 1,429 per 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The notification provinces with the highest rate are Prato with 1,991 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, Pisa with 1,925 and Florence with 1,785, while the lowest is confirmed Grosseto with 833.

Of the total number of patients, 40,001 are isolated at home, as they present mild symptoms that do not require hospital care, or are asymptomatic (2,073 more than yesterday, plus 5.5%).

37,099 (26 less than yesterday, less 0.1%) are people, also isolated, under active surveillance for having had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 13,872, Northwest 14,073, Southeast 9,154).

People hospitalized in beds dedicated to Covid patients, 1,582 as already mentioned, have grown by 4.6 percent in the last twenty-four hours: the presence in intensive care – 214, 7 more than yesterday – increased by 2.4 percent .

Compared to yesterday, those cured also increased: 614 (3.7% more), 17,352 overall since March. For 1,294 these are clinical recoveries, that is, people who have become asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection (52 more than yesterday, plus 4.2%), while 16,058 (increased by 562, plus 3 , 6%) The so-called double negative swab certified viral cures have been declared cured in all aspects.

Today’s thirty deaths (20 men and 10 women with an average age of 81.9 years) affect residents in the metropolitan city of Florence (13) and in the provinces of Prato (2), Pistoia (6), Massa Carrara (1), Lucca (3), Pisa (3) and Arezzo (2). Since the start of the emergency, therefore, 566 have died in Florence, 80 in Prato, 115 in Pistoia, 207 in Massa Carrara, 171 in Lucca, 140 in Pisa, 92 in Livorno, 82 in Arezzo, 37 in Siena and 27 in Grosseto. Fifteen other people died on Tuscan soil but were residents outside the region.

The Tuscan crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 41.1 per 100,000 inhabitants against 67.3 per 100,000 for the Italian average. Tuscany ranks eleventh in this ranking. Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (106.2 per 100,000), Florence (56.0 per 100,000) and Lucca (44.1 per 100,000), while the highest Low is located in Grosseto (12.2 x 100,000).
