Another record broken in Lombardy: 9,934 positive cases tracked in 24 hours and the wall of 10,000 infected only touched, but destined to crumble in the next few hours. It was another day full of exponential data on the regional territory, not yet marked by the entry into force of the “red zone” and the strict limitations whose effects – according to experts – will begin to manifest in the coming days. And while the epidemiological picture is expected to register some improvement, yesterday’s figures are merciless: almost 10,000 certified positives, another 48 people hospitalized in the intensive care rooms of Lombard hospitals (total 570), 245 more patients in the Ordinary medicine rooms (5,563 beds occupied), 131 daily victims of Covid (100 daily deaths exceeded for the third time in the last four days in Lombardy).

Numbers that need a downward turn to reduce the burden on the health system, even if the ratio between processed swabs (+46,401) and new positives (+9,934, rate of 21.4%) does not represent the absolute record (2 November, the rate of 21.9% was reached). Of the nearly 10,000 daily positives, 532 were classified as weakly positive and 79 emerged after serological testing. Another 4,961 people recovered within 24 hours and left hospitals. The data from Bergamo The province of Bergamo registered a daily increase of 362 positives and 8 victims of Covid. Quite high data and to be monitored (since March 27 there has not been a greater number of positives in 24 hours: +602), which in any case must be contextualized and still manageable in relation to the rest of the provinces (+4,296 infections in the Milan area, of which 1,763 in the city; +1,124 cases in Varese; +968 between Monza and Brianza; +941 in Como; +569 in Brescia). In the last four Fridays there was this progression of Covid in the Bergamo area: on October 16 +38 positives and 0 deaths; on October 23 +122 infected and 0 dead; on October 30 +349 positives and +2 deaths; yesterday only +362 infected and +8 dead. The anomalous jump in deaths was also registered last Saturday (identical number of victims: +8), while in the following days it fluctuated between 0 and 2 daily victims due to diseases attributable to Covid (23 deaths were found in October and already 15 in the first six days of November). From October 30 through yesterday, a total of 1,968 positives (average of 246 daily infections) and 25 deaths (average of 3.1) were tracked. The progression of infections between Bergamo and the province has been constant during the last five days (from +147 on November 2 to +362 yesterday). With the daily growth of infections, the ratio between those infected and the population of the Bergamo area has also increased, now standing at 1.77%. There are 19,731 positive cases verified since the beginning of the epidemic and 3,184 official deaths.

The most exposed municipalities The municipalities that register the highest increase in infections in 24 hours are Bergamo (+51 cases), Treviglio (+29), Dalmine (+11), Romano di Lombardia (+9) and Seriate (+8). with the municipalities in the lower Bergamo area close to the Milanese more suffering than others. The ten municipalities with the highest overall infections since February are Bergamo (2,580 cases), Treviglio (692), Albino (523), Dalmine (437), Seriate (413), Romano di Lombardia (351), Nembro (350), Alzano Lombardo (305), Stezzano (264) and Caravaggio (259). Analysis of the data by Fabrizio Pregliasco, medical director of the Galeazzi Institute in Milan and a member of the regional technical-scientific committee, interprets the high daily numbers of infections in Lombardy, which now reach 10,000: “Unfortunately we are faced with the effects of expansion of the virus, we still have to wait for the results of the previous provisions and hope that the ones that have just entered into force will give positive effects.

It is true that many swabs have been tested, but the psychological threshold of 10,000 positives has been exceeded, ”Pregliasco remarks, in view of worrying figures. “However, we have to wait, before a week or ten days the curve will not go down. It is probable that in the next days numbers around 10 thousand daily units will be repeated ». On the confinement and the “red zone” in which Lombardy has been inserted, Pregliasco invites us to lower the tone of the controversy: «The measures adopted are also adequate to defend the quieter areas, including the Bergamo area. And it is appropriate that we have come to a regional option. It is normal that some of these measures do not go well, but we must not act like children and wait until we reach the limit to make decisions. The advance of the Covid in Lombardy continues along the double speed furrow, with some provinces especially exposed and others more protected: “It is likely that the virus will continue to circulate at this double speed, with Milan, Monza and neighboring areas ahead due to detachment. The Bergamo area can still be considered on the fringes of the epidemic wave, always respecting the rules ”.
