The Region asks hospitals to increase Covid beds in the face of new hospitalizations

But in the Lecco area, patients are already beyond the increases expected for mid-November by Lombard health leaders.

LECCO – Just a few days ago a letter was sent from the Region to the top management of Lombard hospitals and ATS companies announcing and estimating the possible growth of Covid patients, asking individual structures to reduce scheduled hospitalizations to accommodate the Coronavirus patients (read here).

On Thursday, the new letter addressed to the health companies belonging to Ats Brianza (from Monza and Lecco) with the number of extra places requested from hospitals and other structures, to meet a global need at the regional level of another 3,5 thousand beds for acute patients.

True to the data of November 1 that reported 97 hospitalized in Lecco by Covid, at least according to the table of the Region (however there were already 142 in the informative report of October 28 of the Asst de Lecco), 70 additional places are requested at the Manzoni hospital for a total of 167 beds dedicated to coronavirus patients that will be obtained before November 14.

Too bad that number has already been abundantly exceeded: just yesterday (read here) the new newsletter of the Lecco hospital I already had 173 Covid seats occupied beyond capacity, with nine patients testing positive even in non-Covid wards.

The same in Merate where, according to the Lombardy Region guidelines, we should equip ourselves with 74 Covid seats total until November 14, but yesterday, Thursday, the coronavirus hospitalized in Mandic there were 89 out of 98 Covid locations obtained at the hospital.

The situation is no different in the Monza area: the San Gerardo currently houses 413 patients (as reported in MBNews peer article) but for the Region, to face the new hospitalizations from now until November 14, 387 places would be enough at the Brianza hospital.
