The Reggio Calabria Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the failure of the provincial health authority in the follow-up of Covid-positive patients. The file, a kind of cognitive investigation, was opened about a month ago by the prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri and by the deputy Gerardo Dominijanni.
The investigation, initiated by the Public Ministry, also refers to the delays in completing the swabs and the disclosure of the results. There are currently no suspects.
Prosecutors are trying to find out why The asymptomatic and quarantined positive patients were effectively abandoned at home without any communication or assistance from the health authority.. Basically once placed in solitary confinement, they would not be able to contact the medical staff who had to treat them and provide the necessary information on how to manage the quarantine period..
Finally, from the initial controls carried out by the carabinieri, it seems that the situation is due to the lack of personnel in the Asp’s hygiene and public health unit. The doctors and nurses should be in their 60s, but in reality there are only 14 employees in the Prevention department of the company led by the prefectural commissioners after the dissolution by mafia infiltration.
With the outbreak of the pandemic last March, the hiring of health personnel was authorized. This was not done and the contest process would only have started after the prosecutor started the interrogations of some ASP employees.
