Coronavirus cases continue to increase in Sicily. The day that the island has to face Rome’s decision to classify it as an “orange zone”, the Ministry of Health certifies that 1,322 new cases were detected in 24 hours (1,155 yesterday) compared to 9,497 swabs made (9,376 yesterday).
The number of hospitalized patients with symptoms increases and reaches 1,147 (yesterday 1,105) and another nine patients are in intensive care with a total of 157 occupied places. Today, therefore, the total number of hospitalized is 1,304 people. And the subjects in home isolation also splashed: yesterday 16,365, today 17,222 (+857). The total of positives reaches 18,526. Sadly, there have been another 25 victims, for a total of 594 since the start of the pandemic. The cured, on the other hand, mark 8,282 with a 389 compared to yesterday.
This is the subdivision of the new cases by province: Palermo +531; in Catania they grow by 292 units. Then there are 152 new positives in Syracuse; 117 in Ragusa, 99 in Messina; 86 in Trapani; 23 in Caltanissetta; 20 in Enna and 2 in Agrigento.
Sicily “orange zone”: it’s controversial
