At the Pio Albergo Trivulzio, one of the most famous health centers for the elderly in Milan, there is a new outbreak of coronavirus contagion. 74 employees, out of a total of 551, tested positive. They are social and health workers, all asymptomatic, who work both in the part of Pio Albergo Trivulzio where there are patients in rehabilitation and intermediate care (who are hospitalized for shorter periods of time), and in the RSA, the nursing home where non-self-sufficient older people reside for longer periods.

Of a total of 727 patients, 156 are in rehabilitation. Six of them tested positive for coronavirus and have already been transferred to the hospital. At the facility, workers receive swabs every 15 days, while their body temperature is measured every day upon entering the institute. Visits by family members of guests are currently prohibited. In the week of October 12-16, 14 institute patients and 5 employees tested positive.

Last April, the Milan prosecutor’s office opened an investigation, still ongoing, into a series of suspicious deaths during the first wave of infections.
