7,758 infections and 96 deaths in one day

As reported by the Region, in the last 24 hours 7,758 new Covid-19 infections have been reported out of the 43,716 swabs made. Yesterday, the number was 6,804 positives in more than 32,337 swabs. There are still many deaths: since yesterday 96 deaths have been registered (yesterday there were 117). Since February, according to official data, 17,848 citizens have officially died from Covid-19 in Lombardy alone. In total, 3,084,414 swabs have been made in the region since the start of the pandemic.

New patients admitted and in intensive care

The number of patients admitted to hospitals and intensive care continues to grow. With the increase in infections, the pressure on the hospitals in the regional network also increases. In the last 24 hours, the number of hospital admissions has increased by 278 units, bringing the total to 5,018 (yesterday there were 4,740), while 32 new patients treated in intensive care, thus reaching the figure of 507 units. Fortunately, the number of recovered / discharged patients has also grown considerably, now reaching 101,610: 1,495 people have managed to overcome the disease in the last 24 hours.

Data from the Lombard provinces

As for the Lombard provinces, in particular, there are 3,613 new coronavirus infections registered in the province of Milan. A very high figure also in Varese, where there are 607 new positives. There are 898 new positives in the province of Monza and Brianza, 587 in the province of Brescia, 457 in that of Como and 314 in Pavia. The province of Bergamo has registered 240 new infections, while 230 in Lecco, 129 in the province of Lodi, 152 in Cremona, 135 in the province of Sondrio and 188 in Mantua.

Dpcm signed, Lombardia becomes a red zone: the blockade is activated

Lombardy is once again locked up. This is established by the last Dpcm of the Conte government, signed at night, which marks the region governed by Fontana as one of the red zones in Italy. With the new restrictions, it will be prohibited to leave the house except for health or work reasons, as well as to leave or enter the region. Bars, restaurants and beauty centers will close, but hair salons will remain open. Distance learning will cover all classes beginning in second grade. The Region’s position is tough, stating that the decision is based “on two-week-old data.” Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has a different opinion, stressing that “the measures are severe but we will respect them.”
